Hey so tumblr is being a bit wibbly for me and I cannot read the entirety of your aboit you bit in the header and I can't see if you've posted a link to your ao3 account or something that I can subscribe to/follow. I saw the ask you sent on rayshippouuchiha's blog, if/when you post that Yagi Toshinori | All Might is his own secretary fic could you tag me/send me a link?

TL;DR: Sorry, links are broken, my bad.

Links:

AO3 [where this will get posted, probably April]
FF.N [This won’t Go there]
Writing Side Tumblr: Other Fandoms (#OF), One for Nine (#1F9) [Both Broken, sort of]
Discord: Hero Academia role, one-for-9 channel, Watch me yell into the void as I write and think! (feedback welcome)

The long version:

I’m answering this publicly, because I’m sure many people will want to know it, because I have accidentally made it very confusing.

This is going to ramble, sorry?

So! For everyone that has missed the many, random blurbs I’ve rambled on about this, My Main is *not* my writing blog, so most of you won’t be able to find the link to my ao3 or ff.n fic writing quickly. The links should be labeled and working right under my avatar, but if not I have added them here. (Although Both this and my writing blog have a Pinned Post about The Tags, but neither of those are fully linked, sorry)

(I actually came onto tumblr today to try and work on that, but my time management and tumblr brain are a mess, so I don’t do any of this very consistently, I know all my links are wrecked, sorry, I’m planning to work on that more soon.)

For those of you who follow Ray and thus have seen the “Dfo panics when Ofa calls dibs early and Izuku manifests Black Whip while saving Bakugo from the slime villain on live TV” (hey, that looks like a pretty decent starter summary, actually, Thanks!) prompt and seen in the replies that I am working on it, I plan to put it in my Other Fandoms (#of) link section (when it’s working) under One for Nine (#of9) tag. (No, these don’t work yet, this is the first story even close to being ready to post, so the tag section for this isn’t even public yet. Maybe next week)

For anyone who doesn’t see this or whatever, yes I will submit a link to Ray’s blog, since most people who want to see it are likely to see it there most. Chapter one is looking at an April launch, (which I don’t normally do, but I’m making an exception for this story, because everyone is looking forward to it so much, and because It’s eating my brain in chapter order for once, usually my writing brain jumps around)

If anyone wants to sort of watch me think about writing stuff in Live Time, I have a Discord, where I basically “think aloud” by yelling into the void. Feedback would be cool, but lurking is fine. In this case you’d need the Hero Academia role and find this in the one-for-9 channel.

Hopefully that’s all the links.

Thanks for the ask and for the interest in this fic! Sorry I’m such a hot mess.
-So many edits, sorry! Beta Post Editor is bull.

Programming Note: USians, urge your Senators to vote no on KOSA!

Hello, friends! Bad Advisor here.

If you’re a Bad Advice reader, I suspect you agree it’s really important that young folks, including and especially LGBTQIA+ teens, deserve safe and affirming places to gather online. The mis-named “Kids Online Safety Act,” or KOSA, impedes rather than ensures this!

Contact your Senators today and let them know you oppose KOSA and they should, too!

(h/t to the fab Captain Awkward for putting this on the Bad Advisor’s radar today!)

Here, have a photo of the Bad Advisor’s goober pets as a little treat.

Asked by Anonymous:

can u explain why AI art is bad without fearmongering, moralizing or bootlicking lol

ryo-maybe:

I’m going to answer in good faith, even though the tone you’re using sounds like you’re harboring anything but. The issue with AI art isn’t specifically inherent to the tools used to produce it, because, ultimately, a tool is merely that: something devoid of will which, in the hands of a human, can produce a specific outcome. It’s the human element that taints what we could otherwise enjoy for the unquestioningly fascinating topic that is AI art and, by extension, AI software as a whole.

Now, the problem isn’t people, period, but the kind of people that are responsible for giving AI the bad rep it’s been getting, along with the intent that goes into both the development of AI tools and the things produced by dint of said tools. I’m talking about the tech bros happily rubbing their hands, waiting to provide business moguls with a brand new means to commodify and mass-produce what artists stake their entire livelihoods upon, because when you have enough zeroes lined up in your bank account, your eyes are utterly blinded to the soul and personality that human beings put into their handiwork, and which a machine won’t ever be able to reproduce no matter how much stolen art you feed it. Oh yeah, by the way, that’s how AI art tools have been making the rounds: by chewing on thousands upon thousands of stolen pictures made by actual people so that they may learn how to ape someone’s style and spit out absolutely soulless derivatives, while the original authors don’t see a lick of recognition or monetary retribution for any of it. Do I need to tell you why stealing and parading someone else’s art as your own is a terrible, vile thing to do?

But sure, you did ask me to refrain from “fearmongering, moralizing or bootlicking”, which I guess I’ve already done. So since you’d rather I skipped straight to the point in a concise manner, lemme offer some quick examples of why the culture surrounding AI art has already developed into one of the most abysmally disappointing displays of how greed and an utter lack of human decency can ruin something objectively brimming with possibilities:

Less than a week after the sudden death of Korean artist Kim Jung-gi, someone trained an AI model to mimic his artstyle, having the audacity of asking for credits if anyone wished to use it. I sincerely hope I don’t have to explain to you why this is a ghoulish example of the kind of tone-deafness sported by tech bros who buy wholesale into the AI art craze.

A piece of AI art was submitted to an art contest and won. The “artist”’s work amounted to little more than picking a series of prompts and letting the machine do the work. It’s as much art as googling a smattering of terms and making a collage of pictures taken from Pinterest (and even then, you would have put more work into it than this person did). That they won at all says a whole damn lot about how abysmal the respect given to artists - real artists - nowadays is.

There are a multitude of people out there already selling prints of AI-generated art. I could link some of them here, but honestly, type “ai art prints” on a search engine and you’ll get inundated by them. I’ve seen and personally know artists who have had to undersell their works because commissions were the only thin, frayed string they could hang on in hopes of making it through the week without fucking starving themselves, but here we are: any random asshole can now yell “MASSIVE BREASTS, THIN WAIST, COCKTAIL DRESS, HUGE BADONGAS” at a computer, let it mash together a trillion of other people’s hard work, and print it for easy bucks that the actual authors of the basic ingredients of their insipid soup will never, ever see a dime of.

It really bothers me that you mentioned “no bootlicking”. Whose fucking boots is this side of the debate supposedly tasting? That of the artists who post every day about how angry, sad and terrified they are by the prospects of what the development of AI art will entail for their livelihood and passion? What kind of gall did your mother birth you with that you have the spiteful spunk to type that word, when you’ve got shit like an artist who had their sketch stolen while they were drawing it on stream, then fed to an AI and posted by someone passing it off as their own art? How does that not ignite your indignation? “Bootlicking”. Like anyone’s tongues have been tasting leather but those of the same tech bro chodes who kept trying oh so hard to convince us NFTs were the future while ruining the environment to make the absolute stupidest point ever made in the history of humanity.

You know your UPS driver. Maybe not by name, but you know them because you rely on them. You see them in your neighborhood every day, with their distinct brown package car, friendly face, and on-time service. Your UPS driver—plus hundreds of thousands of other UPS workers represented by the Teamsters—needs your support, understanding, and compassion. Because they’re in a fight for their lives.

Right now, more than 340,000 UPS Teamsters are negotiating a new contract with the world’s biggest delivery company. These are human beings who work long hours in extremely demanding jobs to provide for their families. They take pride in their work, with UPS drivers consistently finishing at the top when Americans choose their most liked and trusted professions.

They also sacrifice. UPS workers did not have the option to seek safe haven during the pandemic. As many Americans took advantage of work-from-home options, UPS Teamsters showed up for work without interruption. They made sure all of us, across the nation, got the goods and services we needed to survive. Toilet paper. Diapers. Groceries. Even vaccines, which UPSers delivered long before they were eligible to take them. UPS Teamsters made sure our supply chain kept running and our economy stayed afloat, sacrificing their own health to get the job done.

Since it’s not mentioned here, the union contract is set to expire at the end of the month, July 31. That is when the union says it plans to strike, though I’m sure it’s already affecting ship times.

This is a p big deal because alternative shipping companies cannot handle their usual work + the overflow from UPS. This upcoming strike is well documented, so it’s likely companies will attempt to redirect their needs to places like FedEx and… not much else to say but it will be interesting to see how it all falls apart.

PSA:

Acetaminophen/paracetamol has a hard stop upper dose limit, above which it becomes extremely toxic.

That limit is 4g (8 “extra strength” (500mg) tablets) in 24 hours (about 2 tablets every 6 hours).

A single dose of 22 extra strength tablets can kill you.

Taking 12 or more tablets per day for more than a week can also kill you (this is about 3 tablets every 6 hours).

Symptoms of overdose take up to 24 hours to manifest, and are fairly difficult to distinguish from other problems. They include abdominal pain (especially right upper quadrant), nausea, malaise, and confusion.

The antidote (n-acetylcystine) must be given within 8hours of ingestion in order to be useful.

After 10 hours the only thing that will work is a liver transplant.

You might think “why would I ever accidentally take so much?”

Well, acetaminophen is in almost everything in the cold/flu/pain aisle. Migraine combos like Excedrin, cold and flu combos like NyQuil, basically anything that says “non-aspirin pain relief”, and anything that’s branded as a fever reducer. It’s all probably acetaminophen/paracetamol.

So the goal of this post is to get you to read the labels on your medications. Because taking taking Tylenol and NyQuil together for a week (like you might if you had the flu) could kill you.

AMAZING news: the Reproductive Freedom Act in Ohio has now officially been CERTIFIED to be on the ballot in this November’s election. It gathered 495,938 signatures from 55 counties across Ohio. Republicans messed around & women & young people will make them find out.

Okay, but Ohioans need to get the fuck to the polls for our special election on August 8th!!! The Republican fucks are trying to change our simple majority necessary for amendments to 60%. The Columbus Dispatch says “Issue 1 is one of the most significant questions Ohio voters will be asked in generations,” and that’s no exaggeration. Get out there, and vote no. Early voting and absentee ballot requests are still going on, if you are registered to vote!

We gotta vote no on issue 1 in Ohio on August 8th, 2023.

Republican Secretary of State Frank LaRose admitted last month “[Issue 1] is 100% about keeping a radical, pro-abortion amendment out of our constitution.”
